Therapy in Baltimore

Anna Pemberton Therapist in Baltimore Specializing in Trauma, Perinatal and Maternal Mental Health and Addiction

You want to start savoring these years everyone says you’ll miss.

You’ve been struggling and you’re ready for change. But how can you find the right therapist in Baltimore, MD? Research shows the most significant factor in positive therapy outcomes is the strength of the relationship between client and therapist. So its really important to find that therapist who ‘gets’ you, understands your challenges and is someone you could trust.

My name is Anna Pemberton and I became a therapist because I believe that we are able to heal from the worst things that have happened to us.

I deeply value helping people who have been through difficult experiences and want to make their lives better. I’ve seen people heal and the impact this has on their children, families and communities.

I live close to this work as a mama of two little boys.

I am often reminded in sessions of the power of humor and our human capacity to find light in the darkness. In the words of Joni Mitchell: “laughing and crying you know it’s the same release.”

I have a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and specialized training in parts work/ IFS and EMDR to support people with multiple types of traumatic experiences. I practice as a somatic therapist and work with the nervous system. I have also been a licensed Perinatal Mental Health Certified practitioner (PMH-C) since 2021. My specialties include perinatal and maternal mental health, trauma and toxic relationships. I frequently work with reproductive loss and fertility issues, anxiety in pregnancy, birth trauma, postpartum depression and anxiety, addiction and folks who identify with the label of Borderline Personality Disorder.

I know it can feel like a big step to call a therapist, but I’ll make it straight forward. We’ll spend 15-minutes on the phone or have a video consultation and I’ll let you know how or if I can help. If I am not the right person, I’ll do my best to get you to the right person.

Not sure what to expect from therapy?

We’ll get started with weekly sessions so we can dive in, gain momentum, and get you relief more quickly. Let’s get you feeling and living better.

The symptoms and behaviors that brought you to therapy should feel significantly improved or better managed within 6-9 months. Within the 12-18 months, you will have a firm understanding of how you respond to stress and how this perpetuates cycles and ongoing stories. You will feel more closely acquainted with your inner landscape and how you show up in the world. Many clients decrease in frequency after this time but continue to work together to be held and deeply cared for in this season of life. It’s practice - not insight alone that informs lasting change.

If this sounds good, the first step is to schedule a 15-minute consultation here, see if working together feels like the right fit for you and answer your questions.
